Program Overview
A Kinesiology minor combined with one of several majors at Dordt can provide the skills and knowledge in health and wellness you need to educate and serve others. Throw in a Kingdom-focused understanding of the human body and you鈥檒l be able to choose from a wide array of professional opportunities upon graduating. Your Kinesiology education will help you develop your skills through classroom and lab-based learning, field experiences, internships, and a vast array of hands-on opportunities.
You鈥檒l also have an opportunity to be part of Dordt鈥檚 Pre-Physical Therapy club and Pre-Professional Health Sciences Club. You can even pursue certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
What You'll Learn
As a Kinesiology minor at Dordt, you鈥檒l learn the historical context of health and human performance and how to live obediently in a rapidly changing world. You鈥檒l develop a scripturally based perspective on health activities. And you鈥檒l recognize how God wants us to live and care for our bodies. Coursework is unique in that you鈥檒l choose six approved courses from the Kinesiology course offerings. This creates a curriculum that you can tailor to meet your individual goals.
What You Can Do With A Kinesiology Minor
When you minor in Kinesiology , you鈥檒l leave Dordt with the skills to pursue various opportunities in the Kinesiology field. You could be an athletic trainer, a health club manager, or a health educator.
Physical Therapy/Chiropractic Assistant
A Physical Therapy/Chiropractic Assistant supports therapists and chiropractors by helping prepare patients for treatment, assisting with exercises and therapy procedures, maintaining clinic equipment, and handling basic administrative tasks such as scheduling and patient check-in.
Sports Dietitian
A Sports Dietitian helps athletes improve performance, recovery, and overall health by creating personalized nutrition plans and providing guidance on fueling, hydration, and supplementation.
Health Coach
A Health Coach works with their clients to help change their lifestyle in order to improve their overall health and wellness.

Students looking to get a Kinesiology minor will select six courses within the Kinesiology course offerings. These courses must be approved by the Kinesiology department chairperson.
Students will choose six approved courses within the HHP course offerings. Courses may be tailored to meet individual goals. The Kinesiology department chairperson must approve the six courses.
